soccer, the great divider

A group of Muslim imams and Christian priests got together in Oslo for a conference designed to better interfaith relations. The conference was supposed to culminate with a soccer game, Muslim vs. Christian. But Muslims are supposed to avoid physical contact with women who are not part of their family — it’s prohibited by their faith. So the Christian women were not going to play in the game, then the captain of the Christian side walked out in protest. So they ended up scrapping the game.

A shame, of course. But oh the irony is rich. (And really, shouldn’t they have foreseen the problem?)
