My celebrity look-alike has been hard to pin down over the years. Sometimes I’ve heard Charlie Sheen, other times French Stewart (a.k.a. “that squinty guy from Third Rock From the Sun”). My wife occasionally says Scott Baio. Oh, or one of Rachel’s boyfriends, Tag, on Friends. None are terribly flattering, but at the end of the day they’re all relatively innocuous.

Then we have a baby and everything changes. We’ve started listening to The Wiggles a lot with Lucy… and now my official celebrity look-alike is Greg Page, better known as the Yellow Wiggle. When Claire mentioned it to the nanny the other day, the nanny was like, “Oh sure. Of course.” Like it was obvious to anyone who looked. Have a look:

He’s an okay-looking guy, I guess, and remarkably successful. But he has taken a lot of flack for his line of work — namely, working up a genuine sweat from running around a stage singing silly (and too often, really catchy) songs for kids. So I guess you have to respect that. But still. Now he’s retired from the group because of health concerns. Maybe I can find a new celebrity look-alike? Please?

I want it to become a tradition: A picture of me wearing a mustache holding my daughter while on vacation at the beach. By some fluke both last summer and this, I’ve had an abundance of facial hair at exactly the time that my family takes a week at the beach. That facial hair both years has taken the form of a mustache â€” last year, I shaved one out of a beard I was taking off; this year it was the result of an ill-conceived mustache-growing contest at work.
